January 2015 - 6:20 by  rob.schifreen One of the reasons that web sites go down is that they're targeted by hackers in something called a DDoS attack.  A plain DoS attack stands for "denial of service", which basically means bombarding a web site with so many requests that it falls over with the pressure.  The extra "D" makes the attack Distributed.  Here, instead of all those requests coming from a single computer, they are launched from hundreds of thousands of machines all over the world, all of which have been the victim of a particular "botnet" virus and can now be controlled by their new owner into launching a co-ordinated attack on demand. Zondag, basketdag! Deze middag mocht Emma spelen in Aalst tegen de jongens van Okapi. Het was te zien in de eerste quarter dat ze een beetje onder de indruk waren. En het zat ook niet echt mee. Maar ze hebben hun mannetje en vrouwtje gestaan. We mochten genieten van een leuke wedstrijd.

Waar ik mijn voldoening uit haal? Uit observeren, nadenken en bouwen. Uit praten, discussiëren en vooral luisteren. Heel veel luisteren de laatste tijd. En natuurlijk boeken lezen op mijn Kobo. Zalig! Op enkele weken tijd er al 700 pagina's door gejaagd. Vroeger was dat enkel voor in vakantieperiodes. Maar nu lees ik eigenlijk nog liever dan vroeger.
